Job description
Specifications Technologist
Location:* Sittingbourne
Hours:* Monday to Friday 8.30am – 5pm
Pay rate :* up to £28,000 - £30,000 depending on experience
Purpose
To provide support across the Group Technical team to ensure that the requirements of the Company Management System and ISO 22,000 are adhered to at all times, that accurate information is calculated and recorded on finished product specifications and to further ensure that labels are legally compliant
About the role
Reporting to the Consumer Technologist and based at the Sittingbourne office, you will work closely with all areas of the business to assist in maintaining our products are labelled accurately and are up to date with the latest legislation
What you’ll be doing‿
Consumer Information:
* Accountable for delivering technical elements of the development launch timeline to enable the commercial calendar to be met in full including recurring projects such as price change, packaging refresh etc.
* Creation and maintenance of recipes, finished product specifications and labels with accurate product information for operational teams and legal labelling requirements.
* Carrying out and recording cooking time validations/verifications to ensure that the cooking instructions on packs ensure safe food for the end consumer.
* Carrying out nutritional and QUID calculations for completion on specifications & labels.
* Organising samples for lab testing or analysing nutritional and product information to validate the status of claims (e.g. GF, DF, 5-a-day etc.)
* Conducting and recording of Home Delivery verification trials to determine product suitability for HD, ensuring food safety and quality is maintained.
* Complete Request for Change to product recipes/specifications/labels in a timely manner.
* Carry out shelf-life studies on products to validate/verify appropriate best before dates or extensions to life.
* Updating HFSS scores when amending specifications, providing updated information monthly to Concessions stakeholders, highlighting any changes to score rating.
* Maintain up to date component declarations for charity partners which receive surplus food from the kitchens.
Relationships:
* Key member of the Commercial Timeline meetings, to ensure dates are met throughout development.
* Liaise with Food Team to arrange finished product samples for cooking validation/verification and lab testing, and carrying out the checks.
* Build strong relationships with the Kitchen teams to ensure smooth transition of product recipe and label changes.
* Communicate effectively across wider teams enabling collaboration and delivering solutions with consideration to requirements for compliance and their needs.
* Participate in food safety meetings as Group Technical Representative.
Ad Hoc:
* Extracts via SQL
* Team/Business wide projects.
* Answering Technical Queries upon request
* Team cover where required.
Performance Metrics
* Hitting deadlines for RFC and development timeline requirements;
* Effective execution of tasks to meet the deadlines for the business Commercial Calendar
* Successful completion of key product updates in the company calendar e.g. Price Change, Relists when deadlines are given.
