Job description
Specifications Technologist
Location: Sittingbourne
Hours: Monday to Friday 8.30am – 5pm
Pay rate : up to £28,,500 (Paid Breaks)
Purpose
To provide support across the Group Technical team to ensure that the requirements of the Company Management System and ISO 22,000 are adhered to at all times, that accurate information is calculated and recorded on finished product specifications and to further ensure that labels are legally compliant
About the role
Reporting to the Consumer Technologist and based at the Sittingbourne office, you will work closely with all areas of the business to assist in maintaining our products are labelled accurately and are up to date with the latest legislation
What you’ll be doing‿
Learning & Development:
* Build and maintain skills in product and label legislation
* Level 3 Food Safety and HACCP
* Increasing knowledge of food production of manufacturing
* Embrace feedback and take part in regular one-to-one check-ins to support your development journey and objectives
Food Safety:
* Carrying out and recording cooking time validations/verifications to ensure that the reheating instructions on packs ensure safe food for the end consumer
* Ensuring allergen or food safety concerns for any new products are raised/actioned as appropriate and sent to the lab for verification
* Conducting and recording of Home Delivery verification trials to determine product suitability for HD, ensuring food safety and quality is maintained
* Ensure finished product specifications, recipes and labels are up to date with accurate nutritional analysis and allergen information
Team Collaboration:
* Work closely with team members to understand requirements and deliver solutions
* Communicate clearly and respectfully with both technical and non-technical colleagues
* Create and maintain a good relationship with Kitchen staff at all sites (especially labelling)
* Liaise with Food Team to arrange finished product samples for cooking verification and lab testing if required
* Become a key member of the Commercial Timeline meetings, to ensure dates are met from Pre 200 stage to Ops Sign Off
* Attend food safety meetings as Group Technical Representative
Other Bits
* Extracts via SQL
* Team/Business wide projects including Price Change, Packaging Changes
* Answering Technical Queries upon request
* Complete Request for Changes in a timely manner, keeping an accurate log
* Carry out shelf-life studies alongside the Consumer Technologist
* Update the HFSS spreadsheet monthly and send updates to Concession stakeholders
* Keep Specification Checklist up to date – sending samples to the lab for verification
