Fixed Term Procurement Assistant  

 

Location: Sittingbourne  

Hours:  Monday to Friday – 40hrs  8.30am – 17.00hrs  

Pay rate : £28,000 (Paid Breaks) 

Fixed term – 15 months starting November 2025 February 2027 

 
 

PURPOSE:

Ensuring COOK has the most remarkable Supply Chain 

 

ABOUT THE ROLE:

You will be supporting the procurement functions with raw materials, sustainability and service, aligned with the COOK’s values and sourcing milestones whilst building and maintaining relationships internally and externally.  With an exciting opportunity to learn many areas of buying, with a potential (not guaranteed) scope to continue your COOK buying career with excellent prospects In a growing team.  

 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

*  Support the Buying Strategy and Buying Policies of all Raw materials. 

*   Help maintain our Management of the relationships with all raw material suppliers to the kitchen (e.g. meat, vegetables, fish, dry ingredients and packaging). This will include reviewing price, service expectations and specifications.  Meeting structures must be maintained at COOK and at suppliers (this could include travelling, UK and abroad). It is critical all suppliers fully understand our kitchen processes from the goods in a QA team through to how the customers use the product. 

*   Conduct regular audits of the information we have on file with suppliers’ information, specifications and quality in the and will assist the Buyers. (shadowing current Procurement Assistant for 3 months before they leave on maternity) Kitchen to address operational issues.  

*   Supporting the buyers with any short and long-term supplier issues/impact are evaluated and plans are put in place to avoid any supply issues. 

*   Assist with sourcing suppliers who meet our service, quality and technical requirements, and who conform to our ingredients sourcing policies. 

*  Manage new specifications, sampling and cost analysis.  

*   Manage samples and rotate stock to ensure we have gold seals to refer back to.  

*  Liaise with kitchen operations, in particular the ordering team and planning, regarding (service or quality and work with the buyers and suppliers to address the issues with corrective actions  

*        Assist with sourcing new lines, tracking our buy prices and reviewing price variances, 

*        Work with kitchen operations to ensure the smooth implementation of any new ingredients/packaging and suppliers.  

*        Assist with hosting suppliers  

 

Good to Have

 

*        Good understanding of supply chain functions is an advantage but not essential,   

*        Proven knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint.  

*        Excellent relationship skills  

*        Ability to work well under pressure   

*        Excellent communication skills
